Happy 22 years Tim!! We celebrated by going west to Winslow, AZ and visiting the Barringer Space Museum where the crater fell. First though lunch at Blake's Lotaburger.
LOL 100 degrees outside and my kid wanted to wear his spiderman costume. Oh well, you only live once :)
Yep, we stood on the corner and it was HOT!! Can't believe we missed doing this the last time we were here.

We then headed into this ice cream shoppe for some yummy ice cream. They didn't have a lot of good flavors though :(
The ice cream at least helped cool us down a little during this heat wave.....
We finished up and headed towards Barringer Space Museum. Love the signs on the road as we are heading there.
We got our tickets and headed inside. Now one thing most people know is that Garrett loves to play dress up. He has an astronaut uniform that he wanted to wear. I told him we could take the helmet but leave the suit in the car it was to darn HOT!! So he was pretty happy with that and loved posing for us :)
Heading inside to go into the 4D Theater Collision! Cool hands on stuff for the kids. Garrett really enjoyed that.

While we waited they had a video playing on the TV that talks about the meteor crater. It was educational but fun and kept Garrett's attention.

The doors finally opened and we headed inside. Unfortunately no pictures. The ride was fun and was a nice mix of learning and adventure. We all really enjoyed it.
Then we headed into another theater that was more boring, lol. Thankfully it was only about 15 minutes and it talked about the actual crater and the impact it had. Going from the the 4D to this was a little hard. We probably should have done the 4D last and this first. Oh well, lesson learned....
On the way out they had a worker at a piece of the real meteor crater and she was talking about it. Crazy that you actually get to touch it, but amazing too.

Lots of hands on and educational reading for kids and adults. We really enjoyed walking through here and learning.
They have several paths you can take on your own outside or you can go with a guided tour. If you do the guided tour you cannot come back in as they lock the door you go out and you will be outside for a minimum of 30 minutes. We decided to do our own tour.
Garrett and I headed down the next platform and Tim took this picture from up top. The crater size is huge!
Tim finally made his way down to look out the telescopes.
These telescopes that are put up, you cannot move them. They are "stuck" in that position. Tim took some really cool shots showing each telescope and what you are looking at.

While Tim was getting those shots Garrett and I walked down to the lower level.
This area had some shade while we waited and Garrett was having fun playing on the rocks.
Its clearly obvious he was not happy about taking a selfie with Mom :)

Despite the huge hole in the ground, the view really was beautiful.
We ended the day by picking an Italian Restaurant on the way home. Was a great day to spend on our 22nd Anniversary ;)
