One of the fun things about being in a house for the holidays....I......we get to have a real tree again :) So excited!! First things first though. This morning our elf was trying to help us find some good black friday deals. Silly elf....we aren't shopping for presents today!! Somebody's trying to fit into some awfully big shoes..... We finally got out the door and stopped at a cute little diner for lunch. Garrett sure loves his Daddy!! The tree farm we were headed to was in the same town we had previously camped at in Connecticut. We arrived about 2 pm and headed out to find the perfect tree!! Garrett even got to ride for a little while. Then there it was our perfect tree!! Took us a total of 2 hours to find it, but in the end it was worth it. Taking a selfie while Garrett climbs the rocks, and Tim gets ready to cut it down..... Of course Garrett had to come over and help dad cut it down. Cut down and ready to load onto the cart....we then headed back up to the barn to pay and get us some coffee and hot chocolate. It was free for anyone purchasing a tree. They have a nice little set up and on certain days they even have a horse and carriage ride. We did have one accident....Garrett peed his pants. He was caught up in the excitement of what was happening and before he could say anything it was already done and over with. It wasn't the end of the world, I took him back to the truck and changed out his pants and underwear for new ones. All in all I would say our tree cutting adventure was a success. Next stop Home Depot to pick up our Christmas Train, and then home to get everything set up. By the time we got home it was going on about 7 pm. I put on Polar Express for Garrett to watch while we got everything unloaded. Of course once Tim brought in the train that movie was the last thing on Garrett's mind.....Needless to say after it was set up that was all Garrett wanted to do. We hit a bit of a snag.....We got the tree up and Tim put the train around it when we noticed water on the ground around the tree. I asked Tim if he had overfilled it. Yep you guessed it....the tree stand that was downstairs came with a crack. Tim had to take that tree outside and run to Walmart to get another tree stand. No decorating our tree tonight :( At least the crack was big enough for us to catch it now. I can't imagine the mess we would have woken up to in the morning. My poor husband though. All that work and he has to do it again. He did it with a smile though :) Tree decorating will have to be done another day..... Even with the couple of snafu's it was still a great day!! We are making so many wonderful memories together as a family!!
