On the road again.....next stop Delaware

Jan 2 - We sure had a good run of it here in New Mexico, but alas, it's time to move on to Delaware. We got everything loaded up the night before, spent the night in Teresa's RV. Here are all 3 of us almost loaded up and ready to go. I will be towing the utility trailer with my car, Teresa is towing our RV, and we are towing hers.

Said our goodbyes to the owners Bryant and Catherine. These are the best people. So if you are ever in need of a park near the Farmington or Shiprock area this is the place I would recommend.

Garrett was so excited to be leaving again. This kid definitely has gypsy blood!!

We finally got on the road about 11 that afternoon. Because of the time of year we would be stopping at hotels along the way not RV parks. I was in the rear, Teresa in the middle and Tim was leading the pack.

We got to the Red Roof Inn in Amarillo really late and we were all exhausted. Time to hit the sack!!

Jan 3 - We got up early the next morning and realized our room was HUGE! This was a really nice hotel and we would definitely stay at this one again.

Back on the road again. Texas and Oklahoma are very flat!!

We saw several crosses along our route. God definitely had a hand in safe travels as you will see later on......

We stopped at another truck stop and there were all kinds of holes an animal had dug. They were literally everywhere on this hill.

Tired kids.....

We arrived at our hotel. The Days Inn and Suites in Russellville, Arkansas for the night. Garrett had a great time playing in the pool and Tim enjoyed the hot tub.

Jan 4 - Back on the road again. A little overcast this morning as we headed out. Doesn't look like rain or snow so that is good :)

Along the way we stopped at a rest area. Was nice to be able to get out and stretch our legs for a bit. Garrett was having a great time running around.

Woohoo Tennessee!! Crossing the Mississippi River into Memphis. 

At our last rest stop Garrett had asked to ride in my vehicle for a little while. Its the first time on the trip that he has rode with me. Not long after he fell asleep. Full belly will do that to you :)

We were cruising right along we had just gotten out of Memphis, TN and there were 3 lanes of traffic. All of a sudden it felt like I was driving on rocks and the trucker behind me was flashing his lights. I didn't realize it but I had blown a tire on the trailer I was towing. I truly believe God had his hand on the situation as I never swerved, the trailer I was towing never swerved and the big semi behind me was able to slow traffic down enough for me to get over. I had gotten on the walkie talkie to Tim and Teresa to let them know I had blown a tire. Tim had me limp slowly up to them as they were parked on the side of the road ahead waiting for me. We had purchased a tire for the trailer before we had left and these tires you replace everything including the rim. Thankfully the tire was the only collateral damage (we bent the hub back in place). I sometimes think about this and think about all that could have happened. I believe all of the people praying for us while we travel makes a difference, and the prayers we pray each day before getting on the road makes a difference as well. 

It didn't take Tim long to change the tire about 1 hour and we were back on the road again. We were about 2 hours out from where we would be stopping for the night and would pick up another tire while we were there at a Home Depot or Lowes.

PSA - please if you see a vehicle pulled over on the side of the road get into one of the far lanes away from that vehicle. There were lots of people who didn't do this but could have. You are making a dangerous situation even more dangerous by not getting over!!

We finally arrived at the Comfort Inn in Franklin, TN for the night. This place had the best pool and Garrett had a great time getting some energy out and playing.

Jan 5 - This morning we got back on the road after Tim and Teresa had gone to get a new tire for the utility trailer. This was probably the prettiest and most scenic area of our drive yet. Was so beautiful!!

Then I noticed a strap was flapping pretty good. So we pulled over and Tim had to re-tie it. Looks like my trailer is the trouble maker of the group, LOL....

Back on the road again.

Welcome to Virginia sign taken at dusk. Didn't turn out great, but o-well. Another state to add to our map as this is a first for our family (Garrett) Tim and I used to live in Virginia Beach and a first for Teresa as well.

We arrived at the Howard Johnson in Staunton, VA late that night. It was in the downtown area and we had a heck of a time getting to it. It was the first hotel we stayed at where the area was sketchy. Definitely would not stay in this hotel again!

Jan 6 - One good thing about the hotel we were at. They had a hardees right across the street where we could go get our breakfast. So yummy!

After breakfast I took the car and tried to find a better way out for our large vehicles (which I did thankfully).

We would actually go through 3 new states today, but I told Teresa she could only claim 2, Maryland and Delaware. West Virginia was a blip on the radar. We went through about 10 minutes of it and then back through to Virginia. Our drive was so pretty though. 

Sassy is our traveling dog. She wants to be right up in the middle of it looking out and watching everything. Her facial expressions though, crack me up!!

We stopped at Ledo Pizza in Mount Airy, MD and OMG, the salad was amazing! 

We finally crossed over into Delaware around 5:30 PM. The rest area we stopped at was really nice!

We finally pulled into Brumbley's RV Park at around 7 pm that night. What a clusterf..k.....I had called earlier to let them know approximately when we would be arriving. When we got there, no one was home. The way the RV park is set up is not like a normal RV park. There were a lot of permanent residents so we had no idea where we were supposed to go. Tim decided to knock on the door up by the maintenance area and thankfully the maintenance guy opened up. He brought us over to where we were supposed to be and we laughed. The space they were planning on putting us was a 40 foot spot. Teresa's RV alone is almost 42 feet. So that wasn't going to work. We said we would park there and Teresa could park in a different spot until we could get it all straightened out. It was very frustrating especially after traveling all day and just wanting to get in and get set up. Needless to say that night we only set up Teresa and we all stayed in her RV for the night. Hopefully the next day will be better.

Our trip all in all was a long drive but we are so thankful that we made it safely to this area. Other than the 1 issue of me having a blow out we had no other problems. We appreciate all the prayers we get while we travel to our locations and are truly thankful to have all of you praying for our families.
