This afternoon we got up and headed over to Traver, CA to visit my Great Aunts. This is the same town that my Grandmother Zola Coonrod Amon grew up in. I was excited to be in this area as my Grandmother used to talk about where she was from but I had never visited the area until now. There is a lot of farmland in the area. Looks like most of the people living in this area do some sort of farming or have done so in the past. The town is very small, reminded me of the town my Grandmother lived at in Michigan. We first stopped at my Great Aunt Faye's house. I don't ever remember meeting any of my Great Aunt's. They are all younger than my Grandmother as my Grandmother was the oldest child in the family. We had a great time visiting with her. She had a white cat that Garrett was playing with. He sure loves his animals. I didn't realize how much younger than my Grandmother she was. She told me how the house that my Grandmother grew up in is still down the street. She said it looks much different now than it did when she was growing up. I really enjoyed visiting with her, and she loved having Garrett over. We then headed over to see my Great Aunt Ida and her husband Mac. She has beautiful rose bushes along her home, I wish I would have taken some pictures of them. Sounds like she has the green thumb of the family. Mac and Garrett got along great. I think they were both having a ball together. She also pulled out some family photos and was showing me some of the older ones that had my Great Grandmother and Grandfather in them. It was so neat to see photos of my ancestors. I loved visiting with them. I've learned so many interesting things about my Grandmother that I never knew previously. It's like looking at my Grandmother when I look at these women. They all have the same eyes, for a brief moment it's almost like my Grandma is still living. I really enjoyed having the opportunity to stop and meet both of them.
