We left the RV Park around 9:30 AM and headed out to find us some good breakfast in the area. We have to be careful where we go since we have the RV behind us. We saw a Cracker Barrel and was going to eat there, but driving to it we saw this little diner so we decided to eat here instead. It was called Penny's Diner and we don't recommend it!! Tim had hair in his breakfast omelet and mine was very cold. Brittany Thompson's bad luck hopefully isn't rubbing off on us!! We ended up finally getting on the road around 11 AM that morning and crossed over into California at around 11:15, woohoo!! Another state we get to add to our map :) About 10 minutes past this sign the landscape changed again and this time it was desert. Like the desert you would find in Saudi Arabia. The sand looked so fine, like what you would find at a beach but without the water. Then it changed again.... Can you see the windmills in the distance? I think they are so pretty, they had probably at least 100 of them. I know California is known for its windmills. We actually saw two different sets along our trip on I-8. Getting ready to head into some mountains!! Signs all along the way advising of high winds. Thankfully we had very little today while we were traveling!! Fascinated with the Windmills.... Starting our ascent into the mountains. Tim was a little worried about our transmission getting too hot and at two times we stopped along the way while driving through to let it cool back down. Once we get the bigger truck we shouldn't have this problem. The first time we stopped Garrett had to be fed so we let the truck cool down while I fed him. The 2nd time we just had to wait which was about 30 minutes each time. So an extra hour added to the trip we weren't expecting. The mountains were so beautiful!! These pictures don't do the scenery along the way justice, and we even got to see a UFO!! More Windmills... Climbing higher and higher. The view was just amazing!! It's amazing since coming through New Mexico how many Border Patrol stops we have had to go through. I'm thankful they are there and we normally just get waved through. They have dogs that sniff the vehicles as they are driving by. Very interesting how they have things set up. Another stop we had to do while driving through California was an agriculture stop. They asked us if we had any produce that we were bringing across. Thankfully I had read up before we went to know that no produce is allowed across from another state so we had eaten everything before we got to the border of California. We were getting hungry so we decided to try to find somewhere to eat. Not a lot of options when you are up in the mountains. We had an exit that showed food so we decided to take it, so stressful while towing since you can't just do a u-turn and turn around if you miss an exit. We had to go around a long country block because we couldn't find parking. We did have some really pretty scenery that we saw on the back roads along the way. We finally found somewhere to eat and they actually had parking down a hill around the back of the restaurant so we had no trouble parking the RV. It was Descanso Junction Restaurant and the people were friendly and the food was excellent!! Plus the inside of the restaurant was really cute too :) Getting close to San Diego. The view was still amazing but we were now descending down the mountain. Coming into San Diego. The traffic was picking up but we are getting close to our RV park. Bailey could smell the ocean, her sniffer was working in high gear sniffing out the window!! Mission Bay RV Park, we finally made it!! Woohoo!! Garrett was also happy that we finally got to our destination. He was ready to get out and play!!
