August 10 - This afternoon we went to another homeschool moms house and she took school pictures of the kids for the 2020/2021 school year. These are Garrett's pictures. When we came home this is how the dogs were laying, LOL. Lazy in this heat :) August 12 - I love to watch him play. He has such a great imagination!! August 14 - Once again we have napping dogs ;) So Kansas has been the lone state that we hadn't hit yet. Well on our drive to Ohio and back to Arkansas we finally got it. Woohoo!! So we were able to finally add it to our map. No more big gaping hole in the middle anymore!! August 16 - Garrett was having fun shooting his toys with his nerf gun. Sassy and Chloe were having fun playing, they sure do look vicious while they play!! August 17 - Its been soooo hot out in the afternoon that we left in the morning to head to the playground and get some play time in. Our playgrounds here have been closed and they finally just recently opened them back up again. Never thought I'd be so thankful to have open playgrounds!! Taking a selfie with Mom. I really cherish this time I have with my little guy. Before long he will be all grown up and on his own. This park has lots of trails to explore!! Stopping to smell the flowers. Bahahaha exploring is hard work ;) August 18 - This morning we headed out to one of the Homeschool Co-ops where we were going to be learning about insects. It was at one of the fellow homeschool moms house and she had a pool and told the kids to bring their suits. I have a feeling today is going to be a very FUN day!! This was Garretts insect paper he completed. Pool time after was awesome!! The public pools here have all been closed because of covid so this was a really special treat for Garrett. We got home that afternoon and he crashed hard!! He was so tired from finally being able to play hard with some other kids!! Working hard on his speech with his SLP Mrs. Kellie. Love that we can take her everywhere with us!! August 19 - This was so funny. Garrett set up some animals in front of the door and then went and got his big gun. He then proceeded to shoot all of the animals with his gun. Best $10 buck garage sale find!! August 20 - This week we are starting Moon Week so we found a new telescope at Goodwill and decided to put it to good use. Tonight we were out looking at the moon! August 23 - Showing Chloe the bug he found in the house. Having fun playing outside. He played hard today and it was sooo hot. He actually put himself to bed. He's in there somewhere ;) August 24 - Today we start moon week so much fun learning about the moon!! Moon phases with oreos.....yes please, Yummy!! Writing on our 100 day chart! Dogs are wondering if they are getting anything. So nosy!! Our books for today. Doing our math lesson. Watching our devotions for the day. I love this show!! Garretts 2 new moon shirts, and a new moon DVD. Sassy and Chloe got 2 new bones and boy were they enjoying chewing on those!! August 25 - Its so hot even the dogs don't want to get up to play. They play with each other laying on the floor. Garretts moon lunch. This is so much fun to make!! Garrett really seemed to enjoy it :) Watching our devotions. Learning about our moon phases. Our books for today. School work. Then we were able to have some fun and get dirty with our moon collage. Garrett really enjoyed doing this project. What do you think? Does it look like the moon with craters? August 26 - Chloe taking a morning nap. Continuing moon week and doing some school work. Our snack today was a freeze dried astronaut ice cream. Garrett ate one bite and was done. It was definitely different, but not horrible. Our books for today. Then our favorite part of the day.....crafts!! First was for our letter M. Then we used clay to make a model of the moon. This was sooo much fun!! Garrett really enjoyed this. Plus it was so cool to see how when we cut into it, how you could see all the layers. Placing our stickers on the phases they belong on. Our sunsets here in New Mexico are amazing!! How beautiful is this!! August 27 - Lazy dogs won't even get up to play because its so HOT!! I started spray painting the cardboard for Garretts rocket ship. Our snack for today was so yummy!! Our books for today. Devotions with Buck Denver. He got this necklace as part of the craft package I had gotten. He decided today he wanted to wear it. School work fun!! Painting our space rocket craft. Making our moon balls. We make these and then they go in the freezer for about a day or longer. Of course Garrett really enjoyed doing this. I love the fact that we are using math and he doesn't even know it :) Of course, because he made the mess now he has to clean it up!! They say one of the best thing for kids Garretts age is pretend play and boy does he have this one down. I got him this space outfit, made him moon shoes and he has his own rocket. He literally played for hours in this thing and continued to play with it for many days after until the cardboard couldn't hold up any longer. Love that I was able to do this for him!! Chloe and Sassy were wondering if they should go in with him. In case you are wondering.....they did!! Later on after Tim woke up him and Garrett started putting together his rocket. We will be launching this sucker tomorrow :) August 28 - The next morning we headed outside and had lots of bugs to look at :) Where would the best spot be to launch a rocket....why off a mountain. So off to Colorado we go..... Silly dogs!! We finally made it to the spot we thought would be awesome to launch from. Garrett and Tim began setting it up. So the 1st attempt was a dud. But the 2nd one, oh boy was that awesome!! We had some exhausted dogs on the way home from all that fun!! I love how they use each other as pillows, so funny!! August 29 - This morning we headed to the barber shop for a haircut for Garrett!! He loves that they let him touch this bear. Then we had a fun playdate with some other homeschool kids!! After we came home dad was up so we finished doing some moon week experiments with dad! So much fun!! Our moon rocks turned out pretty good!! That night after dinner we had our moon snack. I made a moon cake and it tasted really good!! August 30 - The next day we finished up moon week and I had one tired kid!! He actually fell asleep while we were watching a show on the moon. At the end of each lesson are thoughts from Marie. She is the founder of My Fathers World and this one really resonated with me.
