The initial walk in of the hotel room seemed like it would be a nice place. The floors were hard wood, we were put on the first floor, and Garrett and Sassy were having fun playing in the room while I brought in our luggage (I backed up our vehicle right to the hotel room door). I ordered our food to be delivered and pulled back the the covers of the bed to find a leftover wrapping of some sort. Ugh!! I didn't want to move rooms so out to the car I went to get our sleeping bags. Of course one of the first things I do even before bringing any luggage in is checking for bed bugs. I didn't see any so I was good sleeping in our sleeping bags on top of the bed. To be honest it's probably cleaner that way anyhow!! Then I went to give Garrett a bath and the plug wasn't working.....so I called down to the front desk and she brought a different plug that also did not work......needless to say I improvised because all day I had been promising Garrett a bath. So I put a Walmart bag around the plug to help plug it up and in the bath Garrett went. He had a great time and was super happy to be in a bath again!!
This morning Garrett and I got on the road around 7:30 AM. Here is our before we hit the road picture. I stopped to get gas and on the road we went. We will be going 968 miles in two days. Taking about 15.5 hours of just drive time not including any stops. We stopped at 1 pm at a Denny's in Kingman, AZ almost to the California border. Garrett of course had to get his jelly fix!! I was able to park under some shade for Sassy while we ate and we got back on the road after eating and fueling up around 2 pm AZ time. It wasn't long before we saw the welcome to California sign!! The drive itself is actually a really beautiful drive. Lots of mountains and scenery. Garrett and Sassy were doing great!! He's always been a great traveler and Sassy seems like she's going to be the same way. I had plenty for him to do from toys, DVD player, I-pad and games we played along the way. He's looking so grown up here. Not like the little 5 month old we started with..... About an hour after we passed through Barstow we ran into some rain and it continued to rain until we got to our hotel for the night in Bakersfield, CA. We were staying in a Red Roof Inn. We checked in around 6:30 which put us on the road for 12 hours. We all had sore butts and were pretty wound up after for sitting for so long. Thankfully those were the only issues we had, but I definitely would not stay at this location again. I only picked it initially because it had doors on the outside that I could back the car right up to. Here's hoping we get a good nights sleep!!
