Today we received a letter from California Board of Nursing. They advised that since Tim has not taken a Microbiology course that they cannot give him a California License until this class has been taken. I'm sorry, but are you freakin kidding me??? My husband has been an ER RN Nurse for 10 years, has taken and passed the NCLEX test. He has his Arizona compact license, West Virginia, Oregon and Washington licenses with no issues. But California is now saying he can't be a nurse in California unless this class is taken. I'm really ticked off about this. I'm sorry but how is a Microbiology course going to help my husband become a better nurse? This is just ridiculous and if we didn't have family in California we would probably just say forget them and move on. California has a horrible nursing shortage, gee I wonder why. So now we are scrambling to find somewhere for him to take a Microbiology course so we can finally get his California license. So for anyone wanting to get a California license I highly recommend that you start early as we have spoken to other RN's and we aren't the only ones that have ran into this issue.

We are talking about him getting his Nevada license as well since we probably won't have his California license by November 1 when his Oregon contract ends. This way we may be able to head over to Las Vegas where we also have family.
Today Tim slept most of the day since he worked last night. Tomorrow we are planning on heading over to Crater Lake National Park for the day.
