This morning was relaxing. We sat out on my Aunt Grace's patio having nice conversation while Garrett played with her miniature poodle Buddy. Garrett and Buddy became very close while we were there!!
At one point I had both Garrett and Buddy sitting on me :)
Aunt Grace trying to coax Buddy off my lap, at first he wasn't having it, but finally decided to go sit with her :)
Love these purple flowers out on her deck!!
We finally decided to get up and around. At about 2:00 PM we headed towards Anaheim to check into the Howard Johnson Hotel for our Disney vacation. This hotel has a water playground and is about a 5 minute walk to Disneyland which is the reason I chose it.
During our check in process they had some balloon swords behind the check in desk that was pretty neat. Garrett thought it was great and it was a nice touch to our start of our Disneyland vacation!! He also got a pirate hat, arrrrr!!
Our first room was in building 1. We were on the 3rd floor. We got a cart and headed up with all of our stuff. Here is our picture of our room and of the grounds.....so pretty. I specifically wanted this room for the bunk bed. I thought it would be neat for Garrett and give him his own bed to sleep in at night.
When we first got into the room it was so hot!! Like the air hadn't been turned on at all. We turned down the air and Tim and Garrett headed downstairs to play at the water park while I unpacked. While unpacking it should have started to cool down in the room but it wasn't. So I called the front desk and they had a maintenance man come and take a look. He said he might have to replace the motor. I let him know we would be leaving soon for Medieval Times. The front desk said that after we got back if the AC still wasn't working they would move us to a different room. Ugh.....Tim and Garrett came back up and we headed out to Medieval Times!!
We headed to the desk to check in. I had gotten a special price on Groupon and had gotten royalty which would give us pretty good seats and a flag to wave around.
We then checked into the castle and got our crowns. Garrett loved this part!!
They then had us take our family picture with royalty :)
Heading even further into the castle we found the king and queen chairs.
Our knight was the red and yellow knight. Here is his shield explaining more about him.
We then made one last bathroom break and then headed in. We were the 2nd row from the bottom with pretty good seats. We took a quick family picture before they started taking our drink orders.
The show then started and Garrett was LOVING it!! Where else can you make all kinds of noise and wave a flag at dinner. Usually he's told to be quiet, but here he could make as much noise as he wanted. He definitely took advantage of it!!
The Queen's man then came out and told us what would happen during our time in court.
He then introduced the Queen and all of the Knights (6 total) that would be fighting for her honor. They did a big program on just this part alone and Garrett was watching with intensity, LOL!!
She then went up and sat on her throne to watch over the games.
The horses then came out and did tricks for us. This was while they were bringing us our meal of tomato soup, chicken, potato and some other things. The food was ok. Not great, but really is that what you are here for? For us it was good enough :)
Then the man with the bird came out. This was so cool!! The hawk flew right above your head in the audience and did lots of neat things. It was probably one of my favorite moments of the show!!
Then it was time for the knights and their games. They did all kinds of stuff from getting rings to jousting. Of course the jousting was awesome!!
Every little boy's dream. Watching knights fight each other. Man was Garrett really into this and watching every minute. He loved chearing and yelling. We were all having a great time!!
There always has to be one bad apple and unfortunately that was our knight. He was fighting the black and white knight and lost because of his cheating. We still had a great time and Garrett still cheered when he rode by on his horse!!
The show ended about 9 pm. We made our way back to the hotel only to find out that the room was still really hot. So the hotel moved us up to the 4th floor and that room was so much better!! Unfortunately I had unpacked in the other room, so that meant packing back up and moving to a floor above us. The bad part is we had to be up at 5am the next day for our early magic morning in Disneyland. Ugh. Finally got to bed around 11 pm. Hopefully we can sleep good as tomorrow is going to be our first day at Disney!!
