This morning myself, Alisha, Kayley and Garrett headed out to go to the Columbus Zoo. I love the Columbus Zoo, one of the best zoos in my opinion and couldn't wait to go back!! We brought the wagon and Kayley wanted to pull. Here we are heading in!! First stop....the train. Next stop was the pony ride. You had to be 10 or under to ride this. So Garrett was the only one able to ride. I think this stop was when we realized we needed to put on some sunscreen!! Garrett was loving getting some mist from the fan!! I think these were prairie dogs! Heading in to check out the bears!! Garrett was telling us all about what he saw with the bears!! Our tickets included everything even the camel ride!! So we asked the kids and both of them wanted to do it. This is something that even I've never done!! First thing, getting on the camel!! So cool!! Looked like the kids were loving it!! Heading back to get dropped off!! I think this area was where you could listen to termites or ants and what they would sound like under the ground. It was actually pretty neat!! OK, I'm going to go on a soapbox for a moment...these kids were literally at the front of this plane and wouldn't let any other kids up there for over 30 minutes. I waited for about 5 minutes for them to get out and then told them to move over so Garrett could get up there to. When we came back through from looking at the other animals those same kids were still up there with a line of kids waiting to get in their spot so they could see too. This is complete BS. We are all here to see and have a good time. There were other moms who weren't quite so vocal as myself and those kids missed out. It really ticks me off!! OK back off my soapbox now..... Our next stop was a momma feeding her baby. It was so sweet!! I literally could sit and watch these monkeys for hours!! It was such a hot day that it was nice to sit and take a break every now and again. Especially when there was shade!! OK, what happened next was fascinating and disgusting at the same time. You wanted to look away, but you just couldn't!! As we were walking all of a sudden this monkey starts pooping, catches it in his hand, and then starts eating it. OMG did I just literally see that!! Now I can't unsee it, and it's stuck in our brains forever. At least the kids thought it was cool!! The last time we were at the Columbus Zoo was when Garrett was 2 years old. I wanted to retake this picture because it was one of my favorites from when we went!! My how time has changed, LOL..... Checking out more animals. LOL!! This boat ride was probably one of my favorite things that we did on this day. Loved all of the dinosaurs and I think this one was the kids favorite too!! When we were exiting the boat ride we saw this guy feeding the pelicans. So cool!! Taking a drive in the Jurassic jeep!! Garrett so scared from her driving, LOL..... Kayley got eaten so Garrett had to take over the wheel.... Riding the carousel. Next stop was the aquarium area. Made it look like we were in a ship. No fish here.... Any fish in here?? Lots of stuff in this tank!! This turtle was huge!! Here comes a Manatee!! Getting our souvenir pennies!! All kinds of stuff to touch in the touch tank!! Oh no watch out!! Oh no....the shark is eating Garrett...... He must not have tasted that good, LOL ;) Watching the King Cobra snake!! Pink Flamingos are cool!! But Dip N Dots are cooler!! So yummy!! This poor tiger never stood a chance!! Getting ready to ride the Journey to Zanzibar ride. Then the kids rode the Swingin' Gibbons. Last ride to end our day was the Sea Dragon and we definitely slayed it!! Was such a fun day!! A little bittersweet since tomorrow is our last full day before we leave :(
