Last night it got down in the 40's and this morning when we woke up it was COLD!! 55 degrees in the tent. You can see Garrett all bundled up in his sleeping bag and blankets :) We got up and around and all of a sudden we had a visitor. This cat was so friendly!! Garrett was loving it!! The KOA said he has been there all season but now they are looking for a home for him. They close up camp on October 15 and if no one has taken him by then they will take him to a no kill shelter. Tim and I decided if he is around by the time we leave we will think about taking him. It's time to get another pet :) We also had a 2nd visitor as well. Do you see the Woodpecker up in the tree? After we got around we decided to head into town to get some breakfast and walk around for a little bit. We ate at the Lone Spur Café and it was yummy!! We then walked around and Garrett stuck his head in this fence to see the train. Well he got his head stuck. It was a bit dicey for the both of us, but thankfully Tim was just coming out of the store when I called to him and he got Garrett unstuck. I bet Garrett won't do that again!! They have these horse statues by the train depot. Of course you have to sit on the one!! We then decided that if we were going to drive the Million Dollar Highway we better get a move on. The start of the drive you always see the Elk signs. Unfortunately, we never did see any Elk. Most of the trees by now had lost all of there leaves. There were still some that were hanging on though!! As we got higher up in altitude it really started to get foggy.... It's such a beautiful drive!! I'm glad we went during the two seasons. The town of Silverton. This is where we turn around and head back into Durango!! Do you see the snow on the mountain in the background? Brrrr, it's cold out there!! I love how beautiful this area is!! Definitely one of my favorite's. We made it back into Durango around 5:30 and stopped for dinner. We went to Steamworks Brewing. We had about a 30 minute wait. Garrett enjoyed opening the door for people, even if only about 1/4 of them said thank you to him. Food here was just ok, nothing great. After dinner we headed back to the campsite. We decided to hunker down for the night as tonight it was supposed to only be in the 30's. Plus tomorrow we have to get up early for our train ride!!
