We hit the road about 10 am Thursday morning. We figured we'd be pulling into Gallup about 3:30 pm. Garrett was having fun playing with his toys in the backseat. We stopped for diesel about 30 minutes up the road and Garrett and I went into the gas station to get a drink. While we were in there Garrett was having a conversation with a woman. She said awe, he is so precious I just love special needs kids. Wait, what?? I mean I know he has a speech delay, but special needs? It kind of hit me in the gut. We've taken Garrett to doctor after doctor. All of them say the same thing. No he isn't autistic, no he doesn't have ADHD, he is just speech delayed. He's making slow but steady progress. Do I wish it would go quicker and that he could speak like so many of his peers do....absolutely. But, that's not my kid. Not the kid that God gave me to take care of. So we continue to get Garrett the help he needs and slowly make progress. Maybe it's God's way of making me be patient :) We got back in the truck and headed on our way. He must have been tired.....of to la la land he went!! We made it to Red Rock Campground about 4:00 pm. We went into the Museum Office where we paid and got our keys to the bathroom. Oh my goodness, this place is absolutely gorgeous!! While we were setting up our site, Garrett was having a grand old time playing in the sand!! That night we decided to head to Jerry's Mexican Diner for Dinner. I had forgotten that back in November 2012 Tim and I also stopped here for dinner. So much fun going back and looking at the old blogs. You forget so much!! We also stayed at Gallup except in a hotel. I told Tim that it looked familiar, LOL. Going to be an interesting night in that we will be walking to the bathrooms any time we need to use the restroom. Not sure I'm looking forward to that with the animals lurking around......
