Here we are waiting for the dances to start.
Tonight we decided to head out to downtown Gallup to watch their nightly Indian Dances. Each night a different tribe comes out and dances for the public. Tonight it was the Zuni Tribe. It was very interesting to learn about each dance and see the different outfits they would wear to represent the dance they were doing. Here we are waiting for the dances to start. This dance was called the Pottery Dance where the women balance pottery on their heads while dancing. The next dance they performed was the Deer Dance. Their outfits were so interesting to see. The same person was playing the flute/singing and the person played the drum for all the performances. It was really beautiful to hear and we look forward to going to the Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremony in August when they have it. The Buffalo Dance.....my favorite!! It was so funny. Tim was taking pictures with our camera and Garrett was taking pictures with Tim's phone. He's beginning to be quite the photographer. Our sunset coming home. So beautiful!!
