All in all it was a great day!! We are really enjoying our time in Glacier National Park.
Heading out this morning for another fun day of adventure at Glacier National Park. Today we are heading over to Polebridge. Should be a fun day!! Heading on the Going to the Sun Road we were looking pretty heavily in this field. They have signs up in this area saying they've seen bear crossing here. No bear in that field, but you truly couldn't have a more beautiful day!! Today I was driving the dually while Tim took pictures and I have to tell you this road is tight!! Lots of times where we had to bring the mirrors in. This gives you a good idea with the mountain on one side and a drop off on the other how tight it is. Nothing beats the view though!! This is snow still melting..... The vastness and the beauty just takes my breath away. I wish I could bring Big Bertha's wide hips in like I do the mirrors. Boy did I really have to watch while driving this!! So we had heard about these famous red buses also known as red jammers and actually tried to get reservations for them but they were all sold out. It's amazing to think that God created all of this. How beautiful our country is!! Taking one of the really tight corners. Thankfully no one was in the other lane!! This is Tim taking a picture of the back end of the truck to show you just how tight it is!! Phew that was close, now I can go back to enjoying the beauty around me!! Here comes another tunnel!! Heading back down the mountain and I think we are getting closer to the bottom. We stopped at one of the rest areas for a bathroom break. It was funny because there was a line of people waiting for the rest room. A couple asked if anyone had seen any wildlife and several people said no. I then piped up and said why yes, we've seen a moose, bear, bighorn sheep and deer. They commented and said they had been here for 5 days and the only thing they had seen was a squirrel, LOL. I told them that our son was the animal whisperer and he seems to attract them. We all laughed and not 5 minutes later saw several deer right next to the bathroom. You should have seen the look on their faces :) You can see how close the deer was to people, you can see the blue part of the mans sleeve in the picture below. We got back on our way. Lots of rivers and streams!! Look at how clear that water is. Heading to Apgar Village to the Apgar Village Nature Center. Glacier National Park has geared this Apgar Nature Center towards kids. It is very hands on. Garrett would listen to one of the nature talks by a ranger and then would be receiving his Junior Ranger Badge for Glacier National Park. Getting sworn in as Glacier National Parks next Junior Ranger. So proud of Garrett!! Now that Garrett has finished up his Junior Ranger book we are going to head into Polebridge. We are going to be very close to the Canadian border. In case you are wondering the drive to Polebridge is mostly dirt road and it's rough. But the views are still so beautiful!! Literally only a handful of buildings. This little saloon was one of them. Heading over the Mercantile to try their famous huckleberry bear claws. I was still finishing up eating mine when Tim and Garrett decided to play a game of corn hole. Not a lot to do here so we headed back towards Glacier. He looks like he's thinking about trouble, LOL. One of the waterfalls we stopped at along the way. While we were waiting for Tim to finish up pictures Garrett was pretending this was his horse :) Next stop was to hike Trail of the Cedars. Here Garrett is making sure his water works for his backpack. During our hike we found this really cool tree and river. Garrett of course was more interested in climbing the tree :) Garrett had needed some help so while I was over there helping him my HR Manager from my old job seen us and had come over. Now what are the odds in a huge place like Glacier that you would see someone you know from Ohio. It was great catching up with her and seeing her again!! Look at this mischievous face ;) Garrett of course had to get in on the pictures. We went our separate ways and I have to tell you the trees on this hike were definitely interesting...... We finished up our hike and headed back to Apgar Village to have dinner. We pulled up and they said this whole area was without electricity. So we decided to head back across Route 2 and see if anything was open. We didn't find anything till almost all the way back to St. Marys where we finally found a Mexican Restaurant that was open. I'm so thankful that I carry snacks with us. It was around 8 pm when we finally found that one.
All in all it was a great day!! We are really enjoying our time in Glacier National Park.
