We headed out this morning to meet some new friends that we were going to the zoo with. We met them at McDonalds where we had breakfast. Tim works with Angela at the hospital here in Gallup. It was her, her husband Kory their daughter Addilyn, and their little guy Kohlston along with Tim, myself and Garrett. After breakfast we headed out to the zoo.

We arrived to the zoo around 10:30 and Addilyn and Garrett were friends right away!! They are only about 5 months apart. Taking the pictures in front of the zoo sign.

The kids then saw a frog statue that of course just needed to be climbed on!!
We then headed inside the welcome center where they had more animals. Spiders, lizards, snakes, all kinds of fun stuff to look at!!
Then we found Mr. Turtle. He was needing some extra attention!!

First animals were the Owls. They weren’t doing a whole lot so we bypassed them pretty quickly.
Then it was some turkeys and other fowl animals.

Then Mr. Porcupine who was sitting in his shelter and we couldn’t really see him…..at least for now!!
Next stop was the Elk. He was eating his breakfast for the morning.

They had 2 coyote roaming in their shelter.
Of course the bear was the favorite. We spent a lot of time watching the two they had. I love these animals, although I would never want to meet one close up. For some reason they just fascinate me!!
The Cougar (Mountain Lion) was hiding himself well. It took awhile for us to find the 2 they had in the shelter. They were watching us very closely. Gives me goosebumps now just thinking about it. I’m sure they are the same way in the wild. You would probably never know if one was close to you!!
The Eagles were next but the kids weren’t very interested in this one!! I loved the statue though….So cool!!
The grey wolf was out and about but up very high on the ledge so it was hard to see her.
The Mule Deer weren’t very interesting as he was just lying in the shade.
The Bighorn Sheep were fun to watch. When we first arrived they were running down the cliff they were on. It was so neat to watch them!!
Then the Bobcats…..my 2nd favorite animal of the day. These two were having a ball playing with each other and the kids really liked watching them play.

The 2nd time we walked past the porcupine he decided to come out and eat. Can’t hide in your shelter forever :) This time we got a good picture of him!!
The zoo had a play area and honestly this is where the kids wanted to come pretty much the whole time we were walking around the zoo. So we let them come over to burn off some energy and they had a ball!!
Us parents of course enjoyed talking while the kids were playing!!
On our way out the kids took pictures with the cutout.
And of course had to play one last time on Mr. Frog!! Acting like they were bears chasing each other.
We then headed over to Window Rock Park. Tell me do you think this looks like a window in a rock??

It was a very pretty area and the kids were having fun together.

Even I decided to get in on the action. The hooks coming out of the rock are for you to climb all the way to the top with a safety harness to clip in.
Garrett put his arm around her in almost every picture. It was so cute!!
Checking out a lizard under the stairs. They would go on one side and the lizard would go on the other. They did this for about 5 minutes.

While we were checking out what the area people had for sale the kids were having fun playing on this. They were certainly using their imaginations.
Addilyn asked Tim to take a picture of her sitting on the stone so of course Garrett was next. He wasn’t quite as graceful in the picture, lol…..

We then headed to dinner as we were all pretty hungry. The kids were having fun playing a game on Angela’s phone.
We said our goodbye’s and headed home. Was such a fun day with new friends :)
After we got home football was on so of course Garrett had to get his helmet on and pretend to be one of the players. My sports kid, LOL!!
