Today is the start of our trip to go to Phoenix Arizona. We are taking Tim out so he can start his next Travel Nurse assignment in Sun City, Arizona. We left at around 9 AM on Saturday morning. Goodbye OHIO!
The 1st leg of the trip went well. We crossed into Indiana and saw the city line of Indianapolis, as well as, the Stadium where the Colts play Football.
We were getting hungry and decided to stop for lunch shortly after entering Illinois. We found a BBQ joint and boy did they have good food. On the outside of the restaurant there were several large black rocks that Tim said were lava rocks. I am still up in the air about what type of rocks those are but they were definitely different.
As we were coming into Missouri, we saw the St. Louis Arch and the Mississippi River. We drove 3/4 of the way through Missouri, finally stopping in Rolla, Missouri at the Drury Hotel for our first night. For Dinner we went to Matt’s Steakhouse. I had a Bourbon Salmon and it was the best Salmon I have ever had. Tim had a Ribeye Steak which he said was also very good. We then went back to the Drury Hotel where we had our 3 free drinks each and then called it a night.
We were both very excited to be taking this trip as Kathy has never driven out West to Arizona and Tim was only a child the last time he had done it. Looking forward to what tomorrow is going to bring.
