This morning we are heading out from Painted Post, NY all the way over to Chadron, NE on another road trip with Grandma Sutton!! We got on the road around 8 am with no problems. We made it to an Ohio rest area where we stopped for lunch and a potty break!! I think everyone was glad to get out and stretch their legs. We made it into Indiana and had a horrible storm come through. We had hail, strong winds, and lots of rain. At least my windshield is clean now, LOL. Around 6 pm we ended up stopping for the night at a hotel in Indiana. Had a really good day driving with no hiccups. I think we were all pretty exhausted though and ready for bed!! The next morning we got back on the road again around 8 am. We started heading through Chicago and holy moses all of the toll roads they have. It seemed like every 5 minutes I was going through another one. Will be glad to get through this state!! We finally got through that and made it to Wisconsin. Woohoo!! This is a new state for both Linda and Garrett!! While we were in Wisconsin we knew we wanted to stop for some Wisconsin cheese. The place we stopped at was so much fun!! Garrett was really enjoying the cows :) Then he had to go and try their cheese and sausage. This kid has such a great imagination that I didn't even have to tell him to do that. I love it!! We're all just a bunch of cheeseheads, LOL!! Garrett was really enjoying playing in the grass!! Having fun sitting on the cow seat. Yay!! We made it to Minnesota. Another new state for Linda and Garrett!! The rest area we stopped at was right on the Mississippi River. So of course we had to stop and take some pictures while we were there. It was really pretty!! We got to our hotel in Minnesota around 6 pm. Grandma and Garrett had fun wrestling with each other :) I think Grandma was winning!! Got up the next morning and once again seemed like we got on the road right around 8 am. We weren't too far from the South Dakota border and within about 1 hour we were in South Dakota, woohoo!! Another new state for Grandma!! I had read all kinds of great things about the Corn Palace right off of I 90 so we decided to make the stop. The Corn Palace, commonly advertised as The World's Only Corn Palace is an arena located in Mitchell, South Dakota. The building is decorated with crop; the murals and designs covering the building are made from corn and other grains, and a new design is constructed each year. Heading in we met the cutest tin man!! This place looks massive. Every year they change the theme and decorate in something new. This years theme was a salute to the military. Grandma and Garrett were both enjoying the swinging chair. Yep, we are those kinds of tourists, LOL!! Garrett's favorite thing....the tractor!! Then we headed inside, and Wow!! These were so beautiful made out of corn and husks. My take on the corn palace is this. If you have time to spare....stop....if you don't then don't worry you aren't really missing anything. Crossing the Missouri River!! Rest of the trip was uneventful. Before we knew it we were in Nebraska!! Yay, another new state for Grandma!! Before we sent her home she actually crossed 5 new states off her list!! We got home to our RV around 4 pm. It was so nice to finally be home!! We went out for Dinner and then came home to find out the Lakota Native Americans were going to be riding from Fort Robinson State Park out to Pine Ridge. They would be going right past the front of the RV park. So we took our chairs out to the road to enjoy watching them go by. Garrett was having a great time playing with all of the kids!! Here comes the horses and their riders!! It was fun hearing them yell while riding. Some of them were riding with saddles but most were riding bareback it seemed. Our road trip started on June 1st and ended on June 3rd. We had another great time with Grandma Sutton and are so thankful that we get to do these things with her!!
