We got to the surgery site about 12:30 and they had us go back to our room. Here Garrett is patiently waiting for the nurse to take his vitals.
Thank goodness I had Tim there!! He assured me that Garrett would not remember being taken in without us and that he would do just fine.
At 2:17 they called to tell us they were starting the surgery. Dear Jesus, please keep my little boy safe!! The surgery lasted about 1.5 hours and the doctor came in to consult with us. He said Garrett did fine. They did not find a missing testes, however, Garrett had a hernia that they removed. He gave us some antibiotic cream to put on his penis area and advised us what to do with the 3 incisions that Garrett received.
This is the 2nd time we didn't like what was happening. At the Children's Hospitals Tim has worked at the parents are in the recovery room as it helps aid with the child recovering. Well, this wasn't the case. They came to get us saying Garrett was very distraught and when we got to him he was freaking out. I'm sure that isn't good for anyone involved. I don't know why they just wouldn't have the parents in with the kids. He didn't want to let me go and was a wreck. I felt so bad for him!! I hope I never have to go through this again for a very long time!!
We finally left the hospital around 5 pm and headed home. I sat in the backseat with Garrett and he slept with me that night. Poor little guy. The block they game him which is sort of like an epidural they give for pregnant women finally started wearing off about 8:30 pm. He wanted to walk but just couldn't. Thankfully he wasn't in too much pain yet. Here are two of the incisions that Garrett has. One is on his belly button and the other is down by his belly.
