Today's drive was lots of windmills and oil wells. When we traveled across last year I tried to get a picture of the oil well and never could get a good one. This drive there were tons of them, oil fields everywhere. They even had an oil graveyard where the retired ones went. We were also passed by 2 more Nascar trucks. One of the good things that Texas has going for it is that the speed limit is 80 mph. Yes, that is correct 80 is the speed limit in most of Texas. We stopped in Pecos, Texas to eat lunch and get gas. Garrett is so funny, he loves to watch and interact with people. Always has a big smile for everyone.
Heading out this morning with Van Horn, Texas as our destination. It will be a short day as our drive is only approximately 250 miles away. We need a short day as we have been getting into our site after dark most nights. After lunch we ran into some very heavy fog the pictures I took don't really show how heavy some of it was. This side of Texas is very scenic and pretty. Lots of mountains which are nice to look at but not so good to tow a trailer on. We were slow going for awhile but thankful that there weren't any high winds to go along with it. Garrett is still traveling great. We've been stopping several times during the day so we can all get out and stretch our legs and so that Garrett isn't cooped up in his car seat. So far it has been working good for us all. We both said that if Texas is going to be our home state we definitely could see us putting up residence on this side of the state. At about 3:30 we made it to our campsite. Desert Willow RV Park. Nice little RV Park in Van Horn, Texas. It was nice to finally get somewhere early and the sun was out and shining. We sat outside and fed Garrett his dinner and then went for a walk in their little town. Most of the area looks like it has been abandoned, which must be the norm for Texas as most of the areas we went through looked exactly like this little town. The RV park was nice and clean and we felt safe while parked here.
