This morning we are heading out to the Valley of Fire State Park and then on to Lake Mead. I originally heard about Valley of Fire from a Group on Facebook that I am a part of. They said it is a not miss when you are in the Vegas area so off we go to explore more of the area. It is such a beautiful area. I agree with the poster on Facebook a definite not miss area. So beautiful. Each area we have gone to on our journeys has been so different. We feel so blessed that we are able to do this together as a family. We stopped at a picnic shelter inside the park for lunch. These chipmunks were antagonizing our dog Bailey. At first we thought they were coming around because of our food. But they never came on the side of the table Garrett and I were sitting at. They only stayed where Bailey was. These chipmunks would get about 5 feet away from her and lay down right in front of her. Like they knew she couldn't get to them. It was so funny to watch. We then climbed the stairs at Atlatl Rock. Yes, definitely out of shape, LOL. By the time we got to the top both Tim and I were huffing and puffing. The view was amazing and the Petroglyphs were so interesting. It also looked like at one time they had stairs that the Indians used to climb to the top for themselves. We then headed on to Natural Arch where I helped hold up the rock that had formed. Cool to see since eventually this will no longer be there. These rock formations are so amazing. It was so neat to see the differences in them. We then stopped at the Beehives. Such a pretty area, heading now towards the Visitors Center. We arrived at the Visitors Center and went in to take a look around. When we visit the State Parks and National Parks we always like to go into the Visitors Center if we can because they have so much information inside. We were hoping they would have the Souvenir Penny but the State Park here didn't have that. We do those for Garrett since it is light weight and each one is so different than the other. Inside this Visitor Center they had a lizard, snake, Tarantula and some scorpions. It was so neat!! The Valley of Fire was also Nevada's first State Park. We then continued on with our drive. We were planning on taking a family picture in front of some of these rocks but our little guy fell asleep and it wasn't worth it to wake him up. Next time we are going to have to remember to do a little earlier. We then stopped at the Rainbow Vista, the colors were so multi-colored. Very pretty!! We stopped at Seven Sisters and The Cabins next. We then headed out of the State Park and onto Lake Mead National Park. The views were just amazing!! Garrett was sleeping so we decided to let Bailey swim for a little bit in the lake. Tim took her down while I stayed with Garrett and took pictures. Bailey absolutely loves to swim. She had a great time with Tim in the water. After Bailey's swim we headed back to the RV. This part of Nevada is absolutely beautiful!! During our drive back we saw some wild horses in the National Park. Such a great day!! Sad that we leave tomorrow :(
